Organizational Design, Technology, and Actionable Knowledge

I am an interdisciplinary researcher and information professional addressing the human dimensions of complex social, environmental, and technical problems. My work focuses on enhancing the capacity of individuals and communities to navigate and shape institutional and technological systems. I combine organizational research and design to mobilize collaborative ingenuity, develop information and technical resources, and support innovative programs and services.

In my larger research agenda, I study knowing and learning in organizations. I am particularly interested in strategies to move knowledge to action, refining the relationship between knowledge and practice, or the links between research and individual and collective action. My ongoing projects explore the organization of actionable expertise; the role of information resources in building adaptive capacity to climate change; and the changing relationship between technology and work in the digital transformation of the scientific and cultural record.
